‘21 Days Later’ named new top fiver

Iran box office hits for the time bracket between August 16 and August 23 have been announced, with ‘Twenty-one Days Later’ joining the top five high-grossing films.

According to a media report published on Thursday, five successful films at Iran ticket window from last Wednesday till Thursday were published ascending from Seyyed-Mohammadreza Kheradmandan's latest ' Twenty-one Days Later’, ‘Subdued’ By Hamid Nematollah, ‘Sara and Aida’ by Maziar Miri, Oxidan’ by Hamed Mohammadi and ‘5 PM’ by Mehran Modiri.

As compared with the last week’s results, the latest rankings show ‘Twenty-one Days Later’ made its debut among top fives with ‘Sperm Whales 2’ finding no spot there despite the past few weeks.

For multiple straight weeks, latest work by great Iranian comedian/director Modiri dominated Iran domestic box office, raked in 7,358,460,000 rials.

 This is while Seyyed-Mohammadreza Kheradmandan's latest performed quite well at the ticket window in debut week among top fives with 1,733,770,000 rials in ticket sales.  

'21 Day Later', starring Sareh Bayat and Hamidreza Azarang, is a melodrama about a teenager who has to struggle with several challenges in order to fulfill his dad’s wishes.

“It’s always the same! The last time the sky started getting cloudy, the weather became so wild that the storm could have pulled down the trees. It was pouring rain,” the movie’s brief synopsis teases, adding, “The birds were screaming around their nests. One of the guys said he saw the sun getting dark and light once or twice.”

'Twenty-one Days Later’ made its debut at the ‘Soda-ye-Simorgh’ section of the 35th Fajr Film Festival.
